HAPPY GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY!

The 70s at the Foundation

The first contribution to the Pierce County Library Foundation ($670, from an anonymous donor) was presented at the Foundation’s first official meeting on October 21, 1970. In its early years, the Foundation Board focused on recruiting members of the community for Board service. During this decade, the Foundation reviewed a proposal and building program for a University Place location; contributed to the Library’s Save our Services Campaign (1973); developed the first brochure (1977); and established that funds could be raised to purchase items like the following:books, 16mm films, records, art prints, a portable tv camera, projectors, and a world globe.

Donations made to the Pierce County Library Foundation enhance and amplify public investments, and over the last 50 years, donors like you have helped to support Library programs, projects, and services to meet the diverse needs of our community.

HERE FOR YOU

The Pierce County Library System and Foundation formed a partnership with PrintNW to produce an exclusive offering of Here for You T-shirts in support of the community. Each purchase of a T-shirt for $20 provides $15 to the Foundation to help support valued library services. These funds will enhance vital online and digital services that strengthen the Library’s digital presence and continue to provide much-needed library resources for Pierce County residents.
